Creating your confetti photo

Be in control of your confetti photo

Our number one top tip for your confetti photo is that you provide the confetti yourself. These days we can't rely on guests to bring their own because many don't, so if you definitely want a great confetti shot, please supply your own. There are a few ways in which you can provide it, that may have differing results to the overall photo.

Confetti Cones

Confetti cones have become very popular recently for our couples and we love them too! They look pretty and can be personalised with your names and wedding date for that extra special touch. Each cone holds a good amount of confetti and makes it easier for your guests to throw (just make sure they don't let go of the confetti cone as well!). The alternative is to supply a basket of petals for your guests to just take a handful each.

Positioning your guests

There are two main ways of arranging your guests for the confetti photo. The first option sees your guests form a semi circle around and behind you while you stand front and centre. Everyone throws the petals at the same time for a full looking shot and you stand, with the option of a little kiss!

For the second option, your guests create an aisle for you to walk through. As you approach them, they throw their handful, meaning there is usually less confetti in each photo but you get a few chances at getting the ultimate shot. We love this method because the photographs capture movement and energy from both you and your guests.

Petal Options

A big decision to make is what kind of petals you would like because this has a massive affect on the resulting photographs. Fresh petals are larger while dried petals tend to contain smaller pieces. Either way, you can usually select a colour to match your weddings colour theme - reds, pinks, orange, yellow, blue, purple... Just a note to also consider - the confetti photo is usually done straight after the ceremony, before the group photos and couple portraits. If you go for the large petals, it is quite easy to pick any off that land on you before the formal photos; the smaller dried petals is much more difficult so there will likely be some stray bits present in the following photos (of course this doesn't have to be a problem, but if it is a concern for you, you might want to opt for the larger petals).

Bubbles

An alternative to confetti is bubbles! This couple supplied some guests with traditional bottles of bubbles and others with bubble guns. Proper bubble machines or guns are vital here to provide a decent amount of bubbles for a picture, while the little pots of bubbles are just fun! Bubbles are the perfect option if your venue doesn’t allow confetti.
