4 creative uses for your pre-wedding portraits

What to do with your portraits

Pre-wedding portraits are a wonderful way to capture the love and excitement leading up to your big day. But why keep those beautiful photos just for yourselves? Incorporating your pre-wedding portraits into your wedding can add a personal and creative touch that will delight your guests and make your celebration even more special. Here are four creative ways to use your pre-wedding portraits in your wedding: invitations, guest book, table centerpieces, and a children’s colouring page. Let's explore them further.

Invitations

Your wedding invitations are the first glimpse your guests will get of your special day. Including your pre-wedding portraits in the design of your invitations adds a personal and heartfelt touch. You can choose a favourite photo to be featured on the front, or create a collage of several pictures. Being a designer, Jason designed our wedding invitations himself and created a collage on the inside page. It was just subtle - nothing over the top - but we also included photos of our journey throughout the years, up to that point.

This not only makes your invitations unique but also allows your guests to feel more connected to your story before the big day even arrives. Plus, it serves as a lovely keepsake that friends and family can cherish long after the wedding, and will look great in your detail photos of your invitation suite.

Table Centerpieces

Incorporate your pre-wedding portraits into your table centerpieces to create a personalised and visually appealing decor element. You can frame your photos and place them on each table, or use photo holders to display them alongside flowers and other decorations. This adds a personal touch to each table and is a lovely conversation starter for your guests. It’s a beautiful way to fill your reception with memories and moments that are meaningful to you as a couple.

Children’s Colouring Page

My personal favourite!! Keep the little ones entertained during your wedding by turning your pre-wedding portraits into a fun and creative colouring activity. Choose a few favourite photos and convert them into black-and-white line drawings that can be used as colouring pages. Provide colouring supplies at a designated kids’ table or include the pages in a wedding activity book. One of my couples did this last year - it was the first time I'd seen it and thought it was such a unique idea that not only keeps children engaged but also allows them to be part of the celebration in a creative way. Plus, you’ll end up with some adorable and personalised artwork to remember your special day.

Guest Book

Transform your traditional guest book into a stunning photo book filled with your pre-wedding portraits. Each page can feature a different photo, leaving ample space for your guests to write their well-wishes and advice. This creative twist on the guest book makes it a beautiful and interactive experience for your guests and a cherished memento for you. Every time you flip through the pages, you’ll be reminded of not only the heartfelt messages but also the special moments captured in your pre-wedding portraits.

I hope this gives you some idea on how to use your pre-wedding portraits at your wedding. Of course you don’t have to use them all - that might be a bit overkill! but pick your favourite idea and run with it. I’m always excited to see new ways that my couples inject a bit of personality into their day too.
