How you know you've found the perfect wedding photographer
Planning a wedding can feel incredibly overwhelming, especially when it comes to researching, meeting, and ultimately choosing among numerous suppliers. But it’s so important to spend the time finding the right wedding photographer for you because they will play a pivotal role in capturing the essence of your special day (and how you remember it in years to come). It is crucial that you feel entirely at ease and confident with your decision.
Here are a few things to consider when making that final decision for a wedding photographer…
Style of photography
There are so many different styles of wedding photography - there really is someone out there for everyone. Think about the vision you have for your wedding; is it classic, traditional, formal, relaxed, alternative, fun, sophisticated… this will play a major part in what kind of photography you will need to represent that vision the best.
At Mae Photography our style is natural and relaxed, with bright, happy photos. This perfectly suits modern, relaxed wedding days that are joyful occasions, full of fun, activity and emotion.
Good vibes?
Once speaking with a few potential wedding photographers you will instantly feel whether they are ‘your kind of person’ or not. Was the conversation easy and free-flowing, did you find yourself smiling/laughing (or cringing!)? It is so important that you feel comfortable with your photographer, that you like them, perhaps have a similar sense of humour as them because they will be spending a lot of time with you on your wedding day.
Of course, it’s also important during this initial meeting that you feel they are experienced, they know what they are talking about and you can trust them with your most special memories.
One of the wedding party
As we’ve said many times before, your photographer is likely going to be with you for your whole wedding day, from getting ready through to the evening so you need someone that will add to the fun, rather than bring the vibe down. This not only accounts for you, but for your wedding party too. When making the decision, ask yourself, do you think this photographer will get along well with your bridesmaids? Will they just seamlessly slot in to the group and help everyone feel relaxed in front of the camera?
Do they listen to you?
There are so many things an experienced wedding photographer can advise you on and give inspiration for so be ready to take guidance from them. But, they also need to be able to listen to you; hear your vision for your wedding, listen to any concerns you may have, invite your creative ideas to the table and get to know you as a couple.
