Portraits at Cudmore Grove, Mersea Island
There are a few beautiful beaches not far from Colchester that are ideal for natural portraits but Cudmore Grove is one of our favourites.
Cudmore Grove Country Park is an amazing nature reserve on Mersea Island covering over 102 acres (please don't make us walk that far though!). It is perfect as a portrait location because it offers a range of different settings and backdrops for photos. We particularly love the rocks and cliffs as they are unique to the area, but other impressive views include the park and estuaries, sandy beaches and wild meadows. The area is also rich in historic features such as WWII pillboxes dotted about if you're into that.
We can capture the essence of your relationship here whether you like walking along the waters edge together or sitting down for a romantic picnic on the beach. You can run through the fields if you fancy or cosy up against the cliff wall.
Mersea Island isn’t far from Colchester so it’s an ideal spot for beach portraits. Cudmore Grove has a large car park which stays open until quite late, so we can utilise the best light in the evening no problem. Of course, the only thing we have to consider is the tide times so we don’t get stuck on the island!
