Do you need two photographers at your wedding?
When creating your custom wedding photography package with us, you have the option of hiring one or two photographers for all or part of the day.
The bigger the wedding (in terms of numbers of guests) the more important it may seem to have two photographers capture your day, but the big question is, do you really need two photographers at your wedding? We are going to explain how having two photographers might benefit each element of a wedding.
Getting ready
Lots of brides want pictures of them getting ready with their bridesmaids. However, if you have a second photographer, you can also get photos of the guys getting ready. The process might not be as long for them but there is still a story to tell and it's part of the day. It could include pictures of the groom ironing his shirt, trying to tie his cravat, the best man searching frantically for the rings and then kicking back to enjoy a beer together in the sunshine. We have captured some great shots of this time of the day with the guys.
Ceremony
During the ceremony it is sometimes not possible for the main photographer to move from the front to the back of the room. Having two photographers means the ceremony is recorded from two different angles. Also, just before it begins, one photographer can grab a photo of the groom standing ready, looking nervous perhaps while the other is with the bride getting those last few pictures before she becomes Mrs.
Group photos
The group photos and couples portraits is a great time to ulitise two photographers at your wedding. One photographer can call out the list for the group shots and gather the crowd together while the other takes the photos. Then, while you're having your portraits the second photographer can capture those natural, candid images of your guests having a drink and mingling - resulting in more final photos for your collection.
Speeches
The speeches is the next element of the day that can benefit from having two photographers present. As a photographer it is difficult to move around during the speeches for fear of blocking someone's view so having two cameras positioned at different sides of the room can again give multiple perspectives of what is happening.
First dance
It is less necessary to have two photographers for the first dance and evening party but that's not to say you can't. At this time in the day, the activity can pick back up again with some people on the dance floor, others by the bar and there’s always a few hanging around outside!
So, do you need two photographers at your wedding? If you have over 100 guests for your wedding it's definitely something worth considering if your budget can stretch to it because there will be so much going on and one photographer can only be in one place at any one time! Having said that, if it's just not feasible for you, don't worry, we can still get amazing photos for you and tell the story of your day.
