Jones Wedding: Barn Brasserie, Colchester

Brides and bridesmaids wedding flowers

The Barn Brasserie, Colchester

It was so great to hear from Katie when she contacted us about her wedding photography. She had been a bridesmaid at her friends wedding we had photographed the previous year. Now it was her turn to be the bride, and her friend to be the bridesmaid! Sam and Katie got married at The Barn Brasserie in Great Tey, Colchester on a chilly February afternoon in 2017.

We met up with Katie earlier in the day at her parents house to capture the surprisingly calm and not at all chaotic getting ready pictures. Everybody was relaxed and everything was going to plan. Having said that, the living room had been turned into a beauty salon with hair and make-up stations set up! Her dress was gorgeous with delicate sparkly straps and neckline, and it was her mums job to tie her into the dress securely. It seems she made a great decision to have fewer people around while getting ready, to keep the morning as stress-free as possible. Katie’s dad looked on with pride as her veil was added and completed the look of the bride. A white limo was waiting to take her to her groom.

At The Barn Brasserie, the guests were all in place on the gallery awaiting the arrival of the bride. It is a small space, but ideal for an intimate, special ceremony with close family and friends. Seeing the relationship between Katie and her dad was lovely as he was giving his daughter away, with true love in his eyes. The ceremony was short and sweet, with the exchange of rings and vows. Sam and Katie signed the register to seal the deal and were on their way as Mr and Mrs.

Although it was cold, the sun made an appearance so we were able to get outside for the photographs in the courtyard and in the grounds. It is an honour to wear your service uniform at your wedding; the groom was looking smart in his army uniform. Back inside, the tables were decorated beautifully for the wedding breakfast. The cake had a modern twist to the traditional three-tiered wedding cake with a stand that made it a work of art. Following the theme of the day, it was simple in design but very elegant and sophisticated.
